Spiritiles

Each Spiritile is made by hand using copper and finely ground glass called "frit."

By layering colorful glass frit onto a copper canvas using stencils, sifters and playing cards, the image and story start to come to light.

Fired in a kiln and cooled under a planchet, the flat is then rolled with a pin to create "crazing." These natural cracks increase the light refraction and magnify the luminescence of the glass.

Each fired flat is then molded around a solid frame to create a Spiritile. Wrapping the story, author and Houston's signature around the sides.
